My Thesis Work
February 21, 2025

After emailing roughly 70 people over the past couple of months, I have finally found a company for my final thesis work. I was invited to an interview at the consulting company adesso AB Sweden. Originally a German company with an Italian name, it is now well established in Sweden.
One of the first questions I asked during the interview—out of morbid curiosity—was why the company name is spelled with a lowercase ‘a’. Apparently, there’s no definitive answer, but they believe it was a way for the founders to stand out in the market. Adesso (the word, not the company) means “now” in Italian, in case you were wondering.
Since the initial interview, I’ve visited their offices twice more—once to discuss the project and once to meet the team and attend their Tech AW. The project looks promising and fun (I’ll write more about it later if I’m allowed), and the people at adesso are incredibly nice and welcoming. The AW included a presentation on OAuth by a well-versed expert, something they do at every Tech AW, once a month, and I learned a lot.
I also introduced one of my classmates to adesso, and we’ll be doing our thesis work together, which is really exciting. He’s nine years younger than me, so I hope my experience can match his vigor.
Consulting often involves a lot of remote work, so having a partner will help me stay focused and engaged. We’ve also committed to working at the office every day instead of relying too much on remote work. After two years of studying from home in front of my personal computer, I’m eager to experience the outside world again.
